Q: I never realized how wrinkles around my mouth made my lips look so much thinner. What should I do? Get rid of the lines or get a filler to plump my lips?BD: Well first we have to determine what bothers YOU the most. Then we can formulate a plan that matches what will make you feel satisfied. From my past experience with this type of problem I would recommend working on bother issues at the same time. The problem with working on only lines or fullness is that correcting only one issue has the tendency to accentuate the negative aspect of the other. I don't want you walking out saying, "I have fuller lips....But look at those lines!" Since I haven't seen you I can just say that generally I'd start with the ProFractional Laser or ProFractional XC lasers which will treat the wrinkles and lip lines by building up your own body's natural collagen. I can use a filler shortly after the laser procedure to plump your lips. Since your natural collagen production will take time to rev up, the filler can help smooth some of the limp lines for an immediate effect as well as plump. So you see you don't have to decide...you can have both!
